AAP's Bibhav Kumar detained amid Swati Maliwal assault allegations
The Calcutta High Court has granted permission to West Bengal's Leader of Opposition and BJP leader, Suvendu Adhikari, to visit Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district, amidst ongoing protests over alleged atrocities by some TMC leaders.
Justice Kausik Chanda of the Calcutta High Court has directed Adhikari to refrain from delivering any inflammatory speeches or inciting violence during his visit to the troubled region. The court's decision comes after it set aside a prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC imposed in the Sandeshkhali police station area, allowing Adhikari to provide a route map of his visit to the state government for compliance.
Adhikari said "The permission was given on February 12 also but they imposed Section 144. Today I received a specific order and I will go there tomorrow and meet the families of the victims. Many BJP workers have been arrested, I will meet their family members."
Attacking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the BJP leader said that the TMC chief will lose the Lok Sabha elections and that is why she is doing all this. "She has not done any development work. They will not arrest (Sheikh Shahjahan) because they need goons during elections and they have given him protection," he added.
